Vancouver’s CLUG designer bike rack wins silver at prestigious design award
Just two months after the Vancouver-based company’s launch, CLUG’s designer bike rack has won silver at the prestigious Dieline design awards.
The awards, part of the HOW Design Live show in Chicago, are run to celebrate and promote companies that both develop great products and extend this design ethos to everything, right down to the packaging itself. CLUG’s award was for the Sports and Games Products category. Further information on the awards are available here.
The award was collected by CLUG’s CEO, Jon Winebrenner, who said: “Last night’s ceremony was fantastic and getting second place is a huge win for us and, we’d like think a huge win for Vancouver. The city has a phenomenal design culture, so we were particularly delighted to have got it after such a short time of going into production.
“We’ve always felt design is about a holistic vision and we’re delighted to have this recognised, having considered every aspect of the CLUG from the way it looks, to the way it works - even the packaging, with its drill guides and tyre sizing is simple and functional.”
There are three CLUGs, the Roadie, the MTB and the Hybrid, which is also great for CX and BMX bikes.
The CLUG Roadie is the world’s smallest bike rack and measures just 42mm x 42mm x 32mm (1.65" x 1.65" x 1.26"). The CLUG Hybrid is similarly discreet, measuring just 58mm x 58mm x 39mm (2.28" x 2.28" x 1.54"). The CLUG MTB measures 82mm x 82mm x 51mm (3.22" x 3.22" x 20.08").
The Roadie, for tyres that measure between 23-32mm (0.9-1.3"), are rated to hold a bike of between 9kg (23mm tyres) and 13kg (32mm tyres) under typical tyre pressures (>80psi).
The design is available in eight colour options: blue, green, black or orange insert with a black or white outside.

The MTB, for tyres that measure between 43-62mm (1.7-2.5"), is rated to hold a bike of between 13kg and 20kg under typical tyre pressures (>40psi).
The Hybrid and MTB are available in four colour options each: blue, green, black or orange inserts with a white outside.
